Research and Innovation are at the core of the mission of GS4C. Over the last ten years the team built a substantial network of partners to guarantee that the original vision for full Cradle to Cradle manufacturing could be supported with the scientific know how and industrial strength to foster a real change toward sustainable and responsible development.

The Loop Mini 650 was supported by Regione Lombardia and was built using enriched basalt fiber and bio-based resin, the full cradle to cradle recyclability of the reinforcement was verified in ENEA, paving the way for further investigations to take the solution to other high volume industrial sectors.

PHYSIS Polimi Energy Boat is the Politecnico of Milan entry at the Monaco Energy Boat Challenge 2022. The Team was third overall in the competition and was awarded the first prize for their "Eco-conception". The cockpit was in enriched basalt fiber and recyclable bio-epoxy with a PET structural core. A fireproof composite bulkhead was separating the driver from the powertrain.

FENICE-KAVA9. Fire rEsistant eNvironmental frIendly CompositEs - Lead Partner: ENEA - Duration: 2022-09-15 - 2024-12-31 - FENICE is a TRL 8 upscaling project on recyclable & biobased Fibre Metal Laminates (FML) and other composites for lighter, more sustainable & safer battery box production with higher fire resistance.

B.Al.i (Basalt Aluminium infusion) was developed to address the need to reduce manufacturing costs of Fiber Metal Laminates in order to foster their adoption in markets other than aerospace. (EU Patent N. 2759399)

Moulds and Tools made of material obtained from the recycling of other fiberglass reclaimed at the end of its life, mixed with glass fibres and unsaturated polyester resins. Glemould is an ongoing development in collaboration with Rivierasca and Politecnico of Milan following an initial research co-funded by a Regional Innovation scheme.

Project C2CC successfully delivered a recyclable and sustainable solution for the automotive sector, This substitution is one of the primary focuses of EIT Raw Materials, since at the moment European manufacturing is critically dependant on raw materials coming from outside Europe. Coordinated by ENEA, C2CC was funded with 1’137’000 € by KIC Raw Materials (upscaling-KAVA 5) with activities aiming at TRL 7, including a go-to-market strategy.

GS4C was one of the partners supporting the SuMoth project, the sustainable Moth developed by the Politecnico of Milan using enriched basalt fiber and recyclable thermoplastic resin. Here at the Foling Week in Malcesine
